Thomas M. Arner
Rev. Thomas M. Arner was born in Parryville, PA on July 3, 1936. He graduated from Lehighton High School in 1954 as valedictorian. He attended and graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1958 and from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1962. His pastorates include Zieglerville from 1962-1969; Herndon 1969-1978; Grantville 1976-1981; and State College 1981-1986. He was then Chaplin (1986-1992) and Director of Admission of Brookline Village in State College from 1986 to 1990. He was Interim Pastor at Spring Mills, PA 1986-1987, Centre Hall 1987-1988, and Aaronsburg 1988-1989.
Rev. Arner was our pastor from 1990 to 1996. He was elected to the pastorate on August 12, 1990. While in Beavertown, his wife Marian, a R.N., set up the health and safety program at the Beavertown Weaving Mill. With mixed emotions, he submitted his resignation on November 16, 1995, to become effective February 10, 1996. He moved to Staunton VA and served St. John's Reformed UCC from 1996 to July 31, 2000. He then retired due to stress related to the arson death of a grandson.
